I have heard and even met some people lately who are back in the stone age with their browsers, really they are web browsers for dinosaurs and as you know, the big old fossils are long gone.  Unbeknown to some people, the web jhas also moved on and using old Browsers just don’t work with all the new web applications.

The major ossil in question is the Microsoft IE6 browser, it needs to be upgraded as soon as or really you will not be able to visit a lot of sites.

Every now and then I’m reminded how clever the Indian Community is at SEO and Web traffic.  I have been to India a number of times and I think it’s important to let other people that have never been to India know how clever they are at the other traffic,  I mean Traffic as in get in a mobile machine and risk your life on the streets.

I have been carefully doing some monitoring of my Acoustic Guitar Web sites at The Acoustic Guitarist and The Acoustic Guitar Player for quite some time.  I am very interested in SEO, Search Engine Optimisation for Google, amd I often read the Google Blog and the Google Webmasters Blog.  I noticed a major ripple about 24 hours ago regarding the way that the search engine was gathering information and displaying  the searches to users.  Originally when I had mentioned it, people had not recognised any changes, but now the word is spreading that there has been a shift in the way it is spidering information, and the way that the Web Bots Spider it.  I consider if you are going to be involved in Web Development or the building of web sites that you develop some simple startegies to test changes.

Well, well.. it took eighteen days for Google Search engines spiders to crawl us, it’s a brand new Social Network started by Tony Hogan and a team of budding web designers to bring together the skills of people and business in the local community of the Northern Rivers.   Range from the Gold Coast, think Surfers Paradise, Jupiters Casino down to Coolangatta, jump over the boarder to Fingal Kingsclif, Cabarita, Salt Pepper, Casuarina, Pottsville, Mt Warning and Murwillumbah.  This region covers a very broad area, both environmentally and business / skill wise.

As I was saying, Google spidered and cached us = included us in its search engine after two weeks of crazy optimising things which most people don’t realise are possible… but to prove a point and play digital rubics cube, I did it anyway.   While most other developers are still thinking 2001 and dinosaur technology we are thinking 2011, I haven’t said 2012 because of the issues relating to the Mayan calender.

This model network will grow into one of the great success stories of Social Networking.

New Search Engine Cuil

Cuil Search Engine

Cuil Search Engine

I wonder how many people are aware of the new search engine called Cuil. Cuil is supposedly larger than Google, that is a very interesting statistic. For information on submitting to Cuil go here to this link Cuil

For Frequenty Asked Questions go here to Cuil FAQ

CUIL PHILOSOPHY: The Internet is getting bigger and more disorganized every day. Cuil’s goal is to solve the two great problems of search: how to index the whole Internet—not just part of it—and how to analyze and sort out its pages so you get relevant results.

NOTE: I would be watching Cuil with great interest.  AOL search engine and others use Google as a backend, but I’ve noticed that Cuil indexes and displays its responses very differently to Google and does not give importance to the same things as Google.

I am currently testing how it works, what it lkes and what what it doesn’t rate.  Already I see a massive difference.
